Biafra Cult Unleash Terror on Lagos Island

The night was ablaze according to one resident who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity. The hoodlums had held the residents of Okepopo area, Adeniji Adele, Lagos island hostage all evening for failing to provide a former resident who’s family they kidnapped three years ago and he had somehow paid to get his family back before immediately leaving the country.

He explained that prior to the arrival of escorts attached to an army General who engaged the cultists in a gun battle chasing them off with several of the cult members said to have been wounded in the shootout, they had barricaded the road stopping those coming from work from entering and those at home from leaving.

According to information gathered, the leader of the “Biafra Boys” as they popularly call themselves, Samson nicknamed “Firefire” said the resident an engineer violated their marriage customs and their oracle has placed a death mark on the man so that whoever gets to bring him dead  or alive gets a chieftancy title.

Kunle, a student and resident of the area who claim to have witnessed attacks on the said engineers family before they left the country, described how the whole episode looked like a war film and was so terrifying that the area which use to be very lively suddenly changed, so much that within the last two years lots of families have moved away from the area as a result of fear.

Funmi Aigbeidon, a trader in the area said this is the third time the cult group will come looking for the man this year. “The last time they came, one of them nearly raped my apprentice if not for God” she exclaimed! 

The representative of the Baale, the paramount ruler of the area who spoke to us claimed the police have been informed and are currently working on the case. He said it’s about time government steps in to curb the excesses of this hoodlums who use political groups to carry out their nefarious activities. He stated that Nigeria is a nation with circular laws and one community cannot impress its laws on another, talk less of disturb the peace of others for personal gains. Our efforts to reach the DPO to confirm police efforts to cob the issue also failed as he was said to be in Abuja for a meeting.
