Pantex, known for its contributions to national security through the production of high-explosive charges, is not only focused on its mission but also on its employees’ growth. The recent partnership with TESU is a testament to this commitment.

“As we achieve new and innovative ways to increase the knowledge and skills of our employees, we commensurately increase our performance at the Pantex Plant,” said Pantex Site Manager Colby Yeary. “This partnership represents an across-the-board win for our employees, the site, and TESU.”

The agreement, signed on August 30 at the John C. Drummond Center, offers employees at both Pantex and its sister site, the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, several enticing benefits. These include a corporate tuition rate, the option to defer payment for classes at TESU, and in some cases, academic for time spent on the job. In essence, employees can combine this opportunity with the existing Consolidated Nuclear Security (CNS) tuition-reimbursement program to significantly lower their out-of-pocket expenses and the time required to obtain a degree or certification.

The forward-thinking recruiter at Pantex, Zuleyma Carruba-Rogel, believes that this partnership holds immense potential to boost employees’ skills and upward mobility. The goal is to incentivize more people to pursue higher education, overcoming the hurdles that often deter individuals from going back to school.

“The hope is that we incentivize people to go back to school,” explained Justin Fox, a manager at Pantex who initiated this exciting opportunity. “With the corporate tuition rate, deferred tuition costs, and flexibility with classes, it overcomes many of the hurdles our staff face in going back to school. That was the premise to help my employees.”
